Agartala, 28th September 2024:   In a heartwarming display of communal harmony, residents of Krishnupur village in Kailashahar, Tripura, came together to celebrate Maa Durga’s puja, transcending religious boundaries. This year, 27 Hindu families in the village organized the puja, collecting contributions from among themselves. Despite limited resources, they ensured the festival’s traditional grandeur.

Notably, some Muslim residents extended support, reflecting the village’s harmonious spirit. The puja, now over 100 years old, follows traditional norms, with artisans crafting the idol. Daily rituals, including bhog (food offerings), were conducted, culminating in visarjan (immersion) on Dashami.

A septuagenarian villager shared, “We may lack financial resources, but our emotional dedication is unwavering.”This poignant example of unity and shared values stands out in today’s world, often arred by conflict and division. In contrast to grand, theme-based pujas, Krishnupur’s simple, traditional celebration showcases the essence of Bengal’s Sanatan Hindu heritage.

The village, with a predominantly Muslim population, witnessed Hindus and Muslims coming together to honor Maa Durga. The puja committee members revealed that despite financial constraints, their emotional commitment remains unshaken. In this era of discord and hatred, Krishnupur’s inclusive celebration serves as a shining example of harmony and unity.
