Agartala, 21st July 2025: A case of bicycle theft from the cycle stand of Chandrapur Government Higher Secondary School has stirred concern and resentment among locals. The incident took place this morning when Class IX student Rohit Alam arrived for his Mathematics examination.
According to reports, Rohit, son of Fazlu Miah from West Chandrapur parked his bicycle in the school’s designated cycle stand before entering the examination hall. However, upon completion of the exam, he found the bicycle was missing. The bicycle, reportedly purchased just weeks back at a cost of Rs 12,000, could not be traced despite extensive searching.
Shocked by the incident, Rohit informed his family, who promptly visited the school and later lodged a formal complaint at Dharmanagar Police Station. The theft took place at such a critical spot within the school premises has raised serious questions about the effectiveness of campus security especially given the presence of staff, students and faculty during school hours.
The incident has sparked widespread frustration among students and parents alike. Many expressed concern over the apparent lack of adequate security measures, suggesting such lapses are contributing to incidents like this. As of now, the school authorities have not issued any statement regarding the matter.
Dharmanagar police confirmed receipt of the complaint and stated that an investigation is underway. Rohit’s family has urged swift action to identify and penalize those responsible for the theft.
