Bihar youth held with 22 kgs of dry cannabis at Agartala Railway Station

Agartala, 29th June 2024:   In a significant drug bust, a joint operation by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) led to the recovery of 22 kg of dry cannabis. The operation also resulted in the arrest of a youth from outside the state. According to OC Tapas Das, the suspect will be presented in court on Saturday with a request for police remand.

Speaking to reporters at Agartala Railway Station, OC Tapas Das stated that the police arrested the suspect at Agartala railway station on Friday afternoon. A thorough search led to the recovery and seizure of 22 kg of dry cannabis. The suspect has been identified as Vir Vikash Vikram (45), a resident of Bihar was immediately taken into custody and transported to the police station.

OC Das confirmed, “On Saturday, he will be handed over to the court seeking police remand.” The arrest and seizure mark a significant step in the ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.
