Bikash Debbarma and Dipak Majumder unveil foundation stone for new Finance and Statistics Department building

Agartala, 14th March 2024:  In a significant move towards infrastructural development, the Finance and Statistics Department of Agartala witnessed the foundation stone laying ceremony of its new multi-storied office building at Shankar Chowmuhani here. The event, held on Thursday, was graced by the presence of the Minister for Finance and Statistics, Bikash Debbarma, along with other dignitaries including Department Secretary Abhishek Chanda, Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumdar, and Ward No. 18 Corporator Abhishek Datta.

Minister Bikash Debbarma, while inaugurating the ceremony, emphasized the critical role of the Finance and Statistics Department in the governance and development of the region. He announced the initiation of multi-storied office buildings to enhance the department’s operational efficiency. The minister highlighted the need for collaboration with Agartala Municipal Corporation for the construction of these state-of-the-art facilities.

The minister also revealed plans for the expansion of the department’s presence with new offices across all districts of the state, ensuring a decentralized and accessible approach to governance. In his address, he underscored the importance of filling the existing vacancies within the department to bolster productivity and service delivery.

Echoing the minister’s sentiments, Mayor Dipak Majumdar spoke about the government’s commitment to providing robust infrastructure for the office, which plays a pivotal role in coordinating with various central government ministries.

The new building is expected to be a cornerstone in facilitating the department’s functions and represents a leap forward in the modernization of government services in Tripura. The initiative is seen as a step towards fulfilling the government’s vision of a well-equipped and responsive administrative system.
