Agartala, 24th June 2025:   In a unique awareness initiative under the ‘Dharti Aaba Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan’, the premises of Singheri Balaji Temple and the adjacent school in Bilaspur village, Chandipur block turned into a hub of participatory governance and statistical awareness today.

Organised by the Department of Economics and Statistics, the event aimed to sensitise the public especially the tribal population about the importance of documentation and statistics-based government services in securing welfare benefits.

Planning (Statistics), Tribal Welfare, Handlooms & Handicrafts minister Bikash Debbarma emphasized the urgent need for documentation among tribal communities. “Even today, many tribal citizens are deprived of government services due to lack of proper documents. The Dharti Aba campaign is a practical step towards ensuring that no one is left behind,” he said.

The event commenced with a blood donation camp, followed by a series of interactive awareness sessions. District Magistrate Tamal Majumdar highlighted the scale of the campaign, stating, “Through this initiative, services are being delivered across 21 habitations, covering 17 gram panchayats. Identity proof, residence documents, and access to health and education are all included.”

Special Secretary Abhishek Chandra added that the location itself held significance. “Singheri Balaji Temple is not just a religious site but has now become a centre for social development. From here, we are laying the foundation for a participatory development model,” he remarked.

Other dignitaries present included Director Dayananda Reang, Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Amalendu Das, Chandipur MDC Bimal Kanti Chakma and several officials.

Members of local self-help groups presented handmade souvenirs to the guests, a gesture that resonated with the spirit of community engagement. The program also featured discussions on the role of data in planning, governance, and service delivery fostering greater public trust and involvement.
