Agartala, 20th July 2025: In a determined effort to uplift rural education in Tripura, Krishnapur MLA and State Tribal Welfare Minister Vikas Debbarma reaffirmed his commitment to expanding access to quality education and improving infrastructure in remote areas.
Addressing an important meeting at the BJP party office in Maiganga Bazar under the Teliamura RD Block, the minister discussed pressing issues related to the education system. The gathering was attended by local youth leader Sajal Namah Das, teachers, tribal leaders, party workers, and residents of the region.
Highlighting the existing challenges, Minister Debbarma stated, “Education is the key to the overall development of any nation or community. If there are educated members in every household, then the progress of both the family and society is ensured.”
He acknowledged that the education rate in the Krishnapur area is still far from satisfactory, with many children from tribal and rural backgrounds struggling to keep pace with mainstream education. To change this, the minister emphasized the importance of promoting higher education among rural students and pledged sustained efforts to bridge the gap.
In addition to educational concerns, Debbarma also addressed a major infrastructural issue affecting residents of Maiganga and surrounding areas — the long, inconvenient commute to Teliamura railway station. Currently, locals must travel approximately 10 kilometers due to the absence of a direct route.
Announcing a long-awaited development, the minister revealed, “The allocation for constructing a bridge over the Khowai River has already been finalized. Once completed, it will reduce the distance to the railway station to just 2 kilometers.”
The bridge is expected to significantly benefit students and local residents by cutting travel time and cost, thereby enhancing connectivity and boosting socio-economic growth in the region.
Locals welcomed the initiative and expressed hope that with the support of leaders like Sajal Nama Das and community cooperation, the region would soon witness a transformative phase in both education and infrastructure.
