Agartala, 26th June 2025: Former Chief Minister and West Tripura Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb today launched a scathing attack on the Congress, accusing the party of never respecting the indigenous people of Tripura and losing public trust due to its politics of “misleading and misinformation.”
Speaking at an organizational meeting at Samhati Bhavan, Rishyamukh XII Grade School under the 37-Rishyamukh Assembly Constituency, Deb said, “Congress never loved Tripura. It did not respect the tribals. That’s why the Communist Party remained in power for a long time. The then CM Nripen Chakraborty came and worked among the tribals. Now the Bharatiya Janata Party is carrying that forward. This is the only party with a tribal head. There are several tribal MPs now. Congress never did that.”
Without naming names, MP Deb took a veiled dig at Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman for his recent controversial remarks on tribal communities, saying such comments insult the indigenous people of the state.
“Congress sits in Agartala to create misvalue. They have no work, no mass support, no one listens to them. They keep doing politics as they please, and people do not like it. The tribals have long boycotted the Congress and its leadership. The party no longer exists in Tripura,” he said.
The organizational meeting, organized by Rishyamukh Mandal of the BJP, began with MP Deb hoisting the party flag and lighting the ceremonial lamp.
