Agartala, 27th July 2025:    Kailashahar MLA and senior Congress leader Birajit Sinha today accused the BJP of running the state through “propaganda, factionalism, hooliganism, and murder.”

Addressing an extended meeting of the Unakoti District Congress, Sinha called on party workers to unite and fight back against what he described as the BJP’s “misrule.”

“The BJP is thriving on four things – propaganda, factionalism, hooliganism, and murder. We have to stand united against this misrule,” said Sinha, speaking at the meeting held at his residence in Paiturbazar.

The meeting was chaired by District Congress President Md. Badruzzaman witnessed the presence of Congress leaders and workers from across the district including Fatikroy, Kumarghat, Pabiachhara and Karamchara. Several strategic decisions were made to revamp the party’s grassroots presence ahead of the upcoming ADC elections.

Key issues discussed included opposition to the smart meter installation, steps to prevent child marriage, the need for expanded health services, and intensifying the anti-drug campaign. As part of its outreach, the Congress announced it will organize street meetings, market campaigns, and village-level gatherings across Unakoti district.

“The time has come for a sustained struggle. People are increasingly disillusioned with the BJP. If we seize this momentum and strengthen the organization, Congress can return to power in Tripura,” Sinha added.

The meeting also announced a district-wide movement demanding improvements in law and order, airport infrastructure, and railway services. A protest against the state government is in the pipeline.

Youth Congress leaders, including Rudrendu Bhattacharya, Ashwini Debbarma and Shyamal Bhattacharjee echoed similar sentiments emphasizing grassroots mobilization.
