Agartala, April 22: The long-desired North District DDRC Outreach Building, i.e. Disabled Rehabilitation Centre, was inaugurated at its own home near Kalidighi, Dharmanagar.
Biswabandhu Sen, Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly, was present as the inaugural function. He was accompanied by the DM of North Tripura district Nagesh Kumar B, DM of Unakoti district Tarit Kanti Chakma, North Tripura district’s Chief Medical Officer Arunabha Chakraborty, DISE Biplab Ghosh, Dr Sandeep Roy were present.
DDRC Nodal Officer Haresh Pal Chowdhury gave the welcome address. He said the work of DDRC centre started in 2007 in Kailashahar town in the undivided North Tripura district. After the division of districts in 2012, particularly the MLA Biswa Bandhu Sen started demanding the establishment of a disabled rehabilitation centre in North Tripura District.
The officer highlighted the history of the long struggle to set up a disabled rehabilitation centre in Dharmanagar and felt that the suffering and misery of the people of North District would be greatly reduced by finally establishing a permanent disabled rehabilitation center in Dharmanagar. Therefore, he applauded the government’s development activities.
Pradyut De Sarkar, Chairperson of Dharmanagar Municipal Council, presided over the function.
