BJP assures justice in Manisha Das case, slams CPIM for ‘Politicizing’ incident

Date:

Agartala, 17th June 2026:  Pradesh BJP Chief Spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty on Wednesday expressed condolences to the family of Manisha Das and assured that justice would be delivered in connection with the incident.

Addressing a press conference, he said that a four-member BJP delegation visited Manisha Das’s residence to stand beside the bereaved family. The delegation comprised Sepahijala Zilla Parishad’s Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Datta, MLA Antara Deb Sarkar, Mahila Morcha State President Mimi Majumder, and State Secretary Tapas Majumder.

Chakraborty stated that there is complete confidence in the steps being taken by the government led by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. “Action will be taken against anyone involved in this incident. Dr. Manik Saha immediately directed the police administration to conduct an impartial investigation,” he said.

He further added that whether the accused are associated with Tripura Shantiniketan Medical College or are outsiders, no one will be spared. “Everyone involved will be brought under the law and justice will be ensured,” he asserted.

Targeting the CPIM, Chakraborty accused the opposition party of attempting to politicize the incident and the death itself. “Are they not trying to support an impartial investigation? It appears to be an attempt to mislead the people while the investigation is still underway,” he said.

Reacting to statements made by CPIM leader Jiten Chowdhury and Congress leader Ashish Kumar Saha, he said such remarks do not represent healthy politics but are aimed at creating confusion among the people. He urged that conclusions should only be drawn after the completion of the investigation.

Condemning what he described as “politics of confusion” and attempts to politicize the matter, Chakraborty said, “No one will be spared. Justice will be served. The police are not under any influence, and all facts will come out through the investigation.”

He also criticized those continuing with protests and road blockades over the issue, alleging that such actions reflect an old style of politics.

BJP State Vice-President Tapas Bhattacharya and Media In-charge Sunit Sarkar were also present at the press conference.
