Agartala, 4th November 2026 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has introduced a large number of new faces in its candidate lists for the upcoming municipal elections in Dharmanagar and Panisagar, signalling a major reshuffle in its local leadership lineup.
In Dharmanagar Municipal Council, the party has announced candidates for all 25 wards, with 17 new faces and eight candidates receiving renomination. The list, finalised by the BJP Tripura State Executive Committee, also specifies ward-wise reservation status. All candidates are scheduled to file their nomination papers on Thursday at 12 noon in the presence of Abhijit Deb, the party’s North Tripura district in-charge.
Similarly, for the 13-member Panisagar Nagar Panchayat, the BJP has fielded nine new candidates while renominating four existing representatives. The candidate list was issued on November 3 by the State Executive Committee under the signature of BJP state president Abhishek Debroy.
Panisagar candidates will submit their nomination papers on November 6 at around 12 noon in the presence of Abhijit Deb, MLA Binay Bhushan Das and other senior district leaders.
The candidate selection reflects the party’s attempt to bring fresh faces into urban local bodies while retaining some experienced representatives ahead of the civic polls.
