Agartala, 19th April 2025: The CPIM organized a Krishak Sabha unit conference this afternoon in the area adjacent to Champamura Bazar under Kamalasagar assembly constituency. Despite not being in power since the 2018 assembly elections, CPIM has been actively working to rebuild its organizational base in the state, particularly in rural areas where political activities had been subdued due to alleged intimidation by BJP-affiliated groups.
The conference was attended by former Deputy Speaker and AIKS state secretary Pabitra Kar along with representatives from the Sub-Divisional and Local Committees of the CPIM. The event began with a solemn tribute to martyred leaders, as CPIM members laid flowers at the martyr altar, symbolizing their commitment to the party’s ideals.
Addressing the gathering, Kar delivered a scathing critique of the BJP-led state and central governments. “The current BJP government is deceiving the people of Tripura in the name of development,” Pavitra stated. He further alleged that since the 2018 assembly elections, unemployment in the state has doubled, leaving many without work and depriving citizens of their constitutional rights. “The people of Tripura are beginning to see through the false promises. The ground beneath the BJP-led government is shifting, and the citizens will deliver a fitting response in the next assembly elections,” he added.
The conference also served as a platform for CPIM leaders to rally support among farmers and rural residents. They urged attendees to overcome fear and actively oppose the BJP government. “No one should remain silent or stay at home out of fear. It is time to unite and protest against the injustices of the BJP regime,” Kar emphasized.
