Agartala, 14th April 2026: Tripura BJP general secretary Bipin Debbaram on Tuesday strongly criticised the Tipra Motha Party, alleging that recent attacks on BJP workers stem from political fear ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections.
Debbaram made these remarks while visiting GB Hospital in Agartala, where he met a BJP worker who was reportedly injured in an attack in Khowai district a day earlier.
He claimed that soon after the conclusion of the TTAADC elections on April 12, a violent incident took place in the Asharambari Assembly constituency area of Khowai district. According to him, BJP workers were targeted in what he described as an attempt to cause serious harm. He also said that the injured worker’s mother was caught up in the attack.
Calling the incident deeply unfortunate, Debbaram alleged that the violence reflected growing political tension in the region. He further accused Tipra Motha of engaging in similar incidents during the election period and said such actions had affected the overall polling atmosphere.
He also questioned the ideology promoted by Tipra Motha leadership, referring to the concept of “Thansa,” and alleged contradictions in its practice. Debbaram claimed that while public statements were being made by party leaders, ground-level incidents of violence were taking place.
He added that BJP would pursue legal action in connection with the incident and said an FIR would be filed. He also warned that those involved in the alleged attack would face consequences.
The allegations made by the BJP leader come amid a politically charged atmosphere following the recently concluded TTAADC election, with both sides trading accusations over incidents of violence.
