Agartala, 18th April 2025:  Tripura BJP president Rajib Bhattacharya on Friday launched a scathing attack on senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of misusing public funds for personal gains in connection with the National Herald case.

Leading a protest rally in Agartala, Bhattacharya condemned the Gandhis and the Congress party, citing a ₹2,000 crore money laundering case in which the Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently filed a chargesheet.“Our nation has witnessed massive corruption. The ED has submitted a chargesheet in a ₹2,000 crore money laundering case involving Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. It is shocking that an organisation founded in 1937 to amplify the voice of the freedom struggle was later misused by the Congress,” Bhattacharya said.

According to him, since 2010, the Congress leadership allegedly took over several properties across cities like Bhopal, Kolkata, Patna, and locations in Maharashtra. The ED initiated the probe in 2014 and interrogated senior leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

“The chargesheet was finally submitted on April 15, 2025. These leaders, who speak of patriotism and freedom, set up a company called Young India, where 76% of the shares are owned by Sonia and Rahul Gandhi,” he said.

Bhattacharya further alleged that the duo used the funds meant for the public for their personal interests. “They have clearly looted public money. To protest this moral and financial corruption, the BJP is holding demonstrations across the country, including in Tripura,” he added.
