Agartala, 29th September 2026 : The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sought re-polling at the Warangbari S.B. School polling station in Gamaria village under Matabari Block, alleging irregularities and obstruction of voters during Monday’s Village Committee elections.
In a written representation submitted to the State Election Commissioner, the BJP alleged that the polling process at the station was not conducted in a free and fair manner. The party claimed that supporters of the Tipra Motha Party allegedly captured the booth and interfered with the voting process.
The BJP further alleged that ordinary voters were prevented from entering the polling station, resulting in several electors being unable to exercise their franchise freely and without fear.
According to the party, the allegations have raised serious questions over the transparency and impartiality of polling at the station. It has therefore urged the State Election Commission to conduct a thorough verification and impartial inquiry into the reported incidents.
The BJP has demanded that, if the allegations are found to be substantiated, necessary action be taken under the applicable electoral rules and arrangements made for a re-poll at the concerned polling station.
The party said that maintaining public confidence in the electoral process requires free, fair and impartial polling, and urged the State Election Commission to examine the matter seriously and take an appropriate decision in accordance with law.
