Agartala, 7th September 2026 : Ahead of the upcoming Village Committee elections, an important meeting was held at the PWD Dak Bungalow in Santirbazar to strengthen the three-party alliance of the BJP, Tipra Motha and IPFT at the village level.
A press conference was organised on Monday in the presence of leaders of the three alliance partners. The meeting focused on seat-sharing arrangements across the 14 villages under the Bakafa Block of the Santirbazar Assembly constituency.
According to sources, discussions were held on a proposed arrangement under which the BJP and Tipra Motha would field candidates in seven villages each. Discussions were also underway regarding allocation of two seats to alliance partner IPFT.
Leaders of the three parties said the primary objective was to strengthen coordination within the alliance down to the village level and ensure better cooperation during the election process.
Preparations have also reportedly been made to submit nomination papers on Tuesday in a festive atmosphere, with leaders and workers of all three parties expected to participate.
Those present at the meeting included Santirbazar MLA Pramod Reang, MDC Kenaram Reang, BJP Mandal President Debashish Bhowmik, State Vice-President of the BJP Tribal Morcha Rabindra Reang, former BJP General Secretary Mambu Mog, senior Tipra Motha leader Harendra Reang, IPFT Central Committee Organising Secretary Manik Tripura and IPFT Santirbazar Divisional President Jyotilal Reang.
The three-party coordination in Bakafa Block has assumed political significance ahead of the Village elections. Attention now remains focused on the final seat-sharing formula and how effectively the alliance arrangement is reflected during Tuesday’s nomination process.
