Agartala, 11th May 2026: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has expressed confidence that the BJP is on track to retain power in the 2028 state Assembly elections.
After arriving in Guwahati, Assam, to attend an oath-taking ceremony, he said the atmosphere across the country currently feels “positive and encouraging.” He mentioned that he had recently attended a similar ceremony in West Bengal as well, followed by the event in Assam.
According to him, there is a sense of satisfaction and optimism among people, and he credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the party’s successive electoral successes in several states. He described these victories as a matter of pride for the BJP and said the party’s performance in Tripura has been particularly encouraging.
Saha added that since the BJP came to power in Tripura in 2018 and again secured a mandate in 2023, it is confident of repeating its success in 2028. He said the party’s leadership, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president Nitin Nabin, along with Prime Minister Modi, would guide the party to another victory.
He further stated that under their guidance, the BJP would “definitely win” the next Assembly election.
On the issue of infiltration, the Chief Minister pointed out that Tripura shares a long border with Bangladesh on three sides. He said the government is closely monitoring the situation and plans to further strengthen border security. He also noted that efforts to curb infiltration are being carried out as part of a broader strategy across the Northeast under the “double-engine government” framework.
