Agartala, January 20, 2023: BJP state chief spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty on Friday warned the Congress and CPIM to stay away from hatching conspiracies and misguiding the people of the state ahead of assembly polls.
The Congress and CPIM leaders joined together for their own interest and letting their workers face troubles at the grassroot level, said Chakraborty while addressing a press conference at BJP state election office here on Friday evening.
He said “People of the state have always witnessed Congress and CPIM were the rival parties of each other for 40 years. Now, they have come under one platform. Those workers who faced attacks and threats from rival parties have to work together ahead of polls for the interest of their leaders. What have happened to the commitments for those people who have faced troubles in the past?”
Citing the scenario of violence at Majlishpur assembly constituency, Chakraborty said “Police gave permission to Congress party for motorcycle rally from Agartala city to Majlishpur, but they were permitted to reach Sachindranagar Colony on Wednesday last. During that time, there was a meeting of BJP in Booth number 46. Reaching there, Congress workers pelted stones on BJP karyakartas and used slang language targeting the Mahila Morcha karyakartas. Hearing this, local MLA and cabinet minister Sushanta Chowdhury went to the spot.”
“On the other hand, an incident of brutal attack on Pranajit Namasudra took place at Surma assembly constituency. Attempts are being made to give a political colour to the attack, who later succumbed to grievous injuries”, he added.
BJP state chief spokesperson said “Opposition parties are making their untiring efforts to malign the image of ruling BJP through social media aiming to weaken the strength of saffron party’s karyakartas and misguide people, which they will never succeed as people have witnessed massive development in the last five years.”
In the press meet, party’s state secretary Asmita Banik was present.
