Agartala, 22nd February 2025 :   Blood is an invaluable resource, and there is no greater gift than donating blood. Through the donation of blood by one person, the lives of three to four individuals can be saved. This sentiment was echoed today by Debal Debroy, Sabhadhipati of Gomati Zilla Parishad during the inauguration of the district-level conference cum blood donation camp organized by the Gomati District Committee of the All Tripura Government Doctors Association (ATGDA) at the conference hall of Tripura Sundari Sub-Division Hospital, Udaipur.

During the blood donation camp, guests interacted with the donors and encouraged them for their noble act.

In his inaugural address, Sabhadhipati Debal Debroy mentioned that there had been a shortage of blood in the state’s blood banks recently. To address this imbalance between the demand and supply of blood, the state government appealed to the public to come forward and donate blood at various hospitals. He lauded the public’s overwhelming response, which turned blood donation into a mass movement, proving that people care for one another. Sabhadhipati Debroy expressed his gratitude to the Gomati District Committee of the ATGDA for organizing the blood donation program and hoped that such initiatives would continue in the future.

MLA Jitendra Majumdar emphasized that blood has no religion, gender, or political affiliation, reminding everyone that we are all united by this common need. He stressed the importance of ensuring that no blood is wasted and that the balance between blood demand and supply is maintained.

The event was also attended by MLA Abhishek Debroy, social worker Sabita Nag, Udaipur Municipal Council Chairman Shital Chandra Majumdar, ATGDA Gomati Division President Dr. Biswajit Pal, Organizing Secretary Dr. Saumik Chakraborty, Gomati District Chief Medical Officer Kamal Reang, ATGDA Secretary Dr. Kanak Chowdhury, Association President Dr. Pradip Kumar Debbarma and other dignitaries. A total of 51 employees from the Gomati District Committee of ATGDA donated blood during the camp.

With great enthusiasm, the blood donation drive organized by the ATGDA Gomati Division began today.
