Agartala, 9th June 2024: In a heartening display of community solidarity, a voluntary blood donation camp was organized at the Jirania Panchayat Committee’s Barjala Binapani School premises in Majlishpur Mandal, under the initiative of the local BJP’s Janajati Morcha. The event, which was inaugurated by Sushanta Chowdhury, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Majlishpur and the state’s Tourism Minister, marks a significant stride towards raising awareness about the importance of blood donation and ensuring a steady supply for those in need.

Addressing the attendees, Chowdhury emphasized the humanitarian and social responsibility inherent in voluntary blood donation. He underscored the profound impact such acts of altruism have on society, expressing optimism that they would significantly mitigate the suffering of individuals in need of blood transfusions. He lauded the efforts of voluntary organizations, non-governmental bodies, and ordinary citizens in promoting blood donation, foreseeing a balanced and ample supply of blood in the state’s various hospital blood banks in times of emergencies.

Encouraging voluntary blood donors, Chowdhury highlighted the health benefits of regular blood donation, citing its positive effects on cardiovascular health, blood pressure regulation, cholesterol levels, and weight management. He urged citizens to embrace the opportunity to contribute to the noble cause of saving lives, emphasizing that every healthy individual can donate blood up to the age of 65, with regular donations contributing to their overall well-being.

Chowdhury also commended the efforts of the state’s Honorable Chief Minister in inspiring citizens to participate in voluntary blood donation drives. He announced plans to collect 500 units of blood from the Mazilishpur Mandal, a decision made in consultation with local authorities and announced several days back. The ongoing blood donation camp, initiated by the Janajati Morcha, has garnered enthusiastic participation from local youths and women, signaling a promising future for such humanitarian initiatives.

Following his address, Chowdhury inspected the blood donation camp, encouraging and expressing gratitude to all donors for their invaluable contribution towards this noble cause. Among the dignitaries present were Gouranga Bhoumik, President of the Mandal Committee of Majlishpur, Pritam Debnath, Vice Chairman of the Jirania Panchayat Committee, and Sudhan Debbarma, President of the Janajati Morcha Mandal Committee, who all echoed Chowdhury’s sentiments of appreciation and support for the blood donation drive.

Today’s blood donation event not only underscores the community’s spirit of compassion and solidarity but also serves as a beacon of hope for a healthier and brighter future for all.
