Agartala, July 08, 2023: Santosh Dey, the joint secretary of BMS, a ruling party-backed organization, has been expelled indefinitely by the Dhalai district committee of BMS due to his involvement in corrupt activities. The decision to expel Santosh Dey was announced during a press conference held at the BJP’s Dhalai district office conference hall on Saturday.

Santosh Dey’s expulsion comes as a result of several corruption allegations against him. During the 2023 assembly elections, cars were taken from the BJP for various political events, and although the BJP leadership rented the cars, Santosh Dey failed to hire the drivers as instructed by the party. Despite repeated warnings from the party, Santosh Dey disregarded their instructions, and the outstanding dues of the car workers remain unpaid.

Along with Santosh Dey, his associates Shyamal Debnath and Shailen Pal have also been suspended for their involvement in various financial corruption cases. Additionally, Santosh Dey and his team formed an unauthorized committee called the Bus Jeep Drivers Association, which has been deemed illegal by the BMS leadership.

The press conference was attended by BMS Dhalai district president Shanti Debbarma, district secretary Bikash Das, member Narayan Debnath, and others. The BMS leadership expressed their firm stance against corruption and emphasized their commitment to maintaining the integrity of the organization.
