Agartala, October 11, 2022: Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, West Tripura district on Tuesday placed a memorandum of five-point charter of demands to the Higher Education Director NC Sharma at Shiksha Bhavan here regarding some urgent and vital demands consisting of library employees and library developments throughout the state.
Speaking to media persons in front of Shiksha Bhavan here on Tuesday morning, BMS West Tripura district secretary Babul Ghosh said that they demanded to publish final seniority list of six senior librarians which is under red tapism for the last 10 years and to complete ad-hoc promotion process at the earliest for the interest of all eligible library professionals
“To procure and keep different types of books related to Dattapanth Thengriji’s biography, autobiography, his ideology and philosophy (Bengali and English version) in all libraries in sufficient number for the benefit of common readers. To open information dissemination section related to central and state governments’ achievements, different social welfare schemes, education and job related information in all public libraries as well as in higher educational institute’s libraries for the benefit of common people and general students”, he added.
Ghosh said “To sanction 30 days mandatory earn leave to all college librarians working in different colleges and higher educational institutes. To fill up vacant posts of Librarian, Library Assistant, Sorter to eradicate shortage of library staffs and smooth functioning of library services in the state.”
During placing these demands, Higher Education Director N.C. Sharma acknowledged these logical demands’ raised by the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, West Tripura Dist. Sharma agreed with these demands and assured them to take immediate steps to resolve their problems.
At the time of submitting these demands, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh West district president Uttam Sarkar, Secretary Babul Ghosh and other BMS activists and many library employees from different colleges and public libraries were present. A copy of charter of demands send to the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, Secretary of Higher Education department, Higher Education minister, Labour Minister, BMS central and state general secretaries and president.
