By TC News Desk

Agartala, 6th May 2024 :  A significant disruption unfolded today as a sizable assembly of brick kiln laborers took to the streets, staging a blockade at the Durga Nagar area within the Bishalgarh Sub-division. Their protest brought vehicular traffic to a grinding halt for several hours.

These workers, employed at the brick kiln operated by Baba Company in the Beluarchar area under Sonamura Sub-division, aired grievances over unpaid wages spanning the last month. Despite repeated appeals to the kiln owners, they alleged non-payment of their rightful dues.

Faced with unyielding owners, the workers escalated their protest to the public sphere today. They congregated on the thoroughfare at Durga Nagar, effectively halting traffic flow along this vital transportation artery.

Upon being alerted to the road blockade, personnel from the Bishalgarh police station swiftly intervened, engaging in extensive dialogue with the protesting laborers. The authorities pledged to address the matter with the kiln proprietors and facilitate the settlement of overdue payments.

Reassured by the police intervention, the workers concluded their blockade in the evening, having effectively disrupted normal activities for over four hours.
