Agartala, 11th April 2025:   In a tragic incident on Thursday morning, a 12-wheeler cement-laden lorry plunged into a ditch after a bridge collapsed on the Damcherra-Khedachara route in North Tripura district. Eyewitnesses reported that the bridge deemed weak was unable to support the heavy vehicle’s weight.

Rescue operations were promptly initiated by local residents and emergency teams. While the exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed, it is feared that the lorry’s driver and assistant sustained severe injuries.

The local administration has launched an investigation into the incident, raising concerns over the construction and maintenance standards of the collapsed bridge. Meanwhile, traffic on the affected route has been halted, and alternative routes have been arranged.
