Agartala, December 31:  A wooden bridge in South Ramnagar area of the capital has been in a dilapidated state for 15 years, causing accidents and injuries to the local residents. The concerned department has failed to take any action to repair the bridge, despite repeated complaints from the locals.

The bridge, which connects the area to the main road, has become a death trap for the people who cross it daily. In the past few days, several people have fallen into the canal through the gaps in the bridge. On Saturday, a student returning from school had a narrow escape after falling from the bridge. On Sunday, an elderly man was injured in a similar incident.

The locals have expressed their frustration and anger over the negligence of the department, which has only given false promises of tendering the bridge renovation work. They have threatened to stage a protest if the bridge is not fixed soon. They have also appealed to the media to highlight their plight and demand justice.
