BSF foils infiltration attempts, arrests 3 Bangladeshi nationals & seizes medicines worth Rs 67.5 lakh

Agartala, 14th August 2024: In a series of operations, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully thwarted infiltration attempts and seized contraband items along the India-Bangladesh border in South Tripura District.

Acting on specific intelligence, a joint operation by BSF personnel and Sabroom police station staff led to the apprehension of two Bangladeshi nationals attempting to enter Indian territory through the BOP Ghagrabasti area under Sabroom police station.

On the intervening night of August 13th and 14th, BSF troops, acting on specific input, arrested another Bangladeshi national trying to infiltrate through the BOP Chhotakhil area under Sabroom police station.

In a separate joint operation, a mobile check post set up by BSF troops and Airport police station staff team detained two Indian nationals and seized 387 small packets of suspected brown sugar from their possession.

In a similar joint operation, a mobile check post laid by BSF troops and Customs at Pongbari Trijunction intercepted a vehicle and recovered a large haul of medicines worth Rs 68.5 lakh intended for smuggling.

The BSF has intensified surveillance and dominance along the international border and in the hinterland due to ongoing disturbances in Bangladesh.
