Agartala, 17th October 2024: The Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura has seized narcotics valued at over Rs 85 lakh and arrested a minor involved in drug smuggling within the last 24 hours.
According to an official press release, BSF troops from the N C Nagar Border Outpost (BOP) in Sepahijala District were alerted on October 15th, following specific intelligence about a potential smuggling attempt. The BSF night ambush team noticed individuals throwing items across the border fence. Upon being challenged, the suspects fled the scene. A BSF Quick Reaction Team was dispatched, and during a search of the area near the border fence, they recovered a packet containing 4,000 Yaba tablets, valued at Rs 40 lakh.
In another operation, BSF troops from BOP Belchera in Khowai District and BOP Rahimpur in Sepahijala District acted on specific intelligence to seize 35 kg of cannabis (locally known as Hanja) worth Rs 1.65 lakh.
Furthermore, on October 17th, a joint operation between BSF troops from BOP Kamalasagar in Sepahijala District and Tripura Police led to the apprehension of a minor. The individual was found behaving suspiciously and was found in possession of a packet containing 4,495 Yaba tablets, valued at Rs 44 lakh.
The BSF continues its vigilant operations to curb cross-border smuggling activities in the region.
