BSF, Sonamura police jointly seized pistol, cartridges and cannabis

Agartala, March 29: In a joint operation of BSF and Sonamura police station staff, a nine mm pistol and fresh cartridges along with 27 kilograms of dry cannabis were seized on Wednesday morning.

It is learned that the pistol, cartridges and cannabis were seized from the house of Ali Akbar in Sonamura and he was arrested.

Sonamura police officer-in-charge Manik Debnath said that on the basis of secret information, BSF and Sonamura police officer Shubhankar Debbarma led a joint operation. The house of the arrested person was surrounded since last night.

After searching his house in the morning, 27 kilograms of cannabis and fresh cartridges were recovered. The accused was arrested with a nine mm pistol.

He will be produced before the court and demand for remand on Thursday. The accused is currently in the custody of Sonamura police station.
