Agartala, 1st December 2025: The 199 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), stationed at Panisagar, marked the 61st Raising Day today with due honor and enthusiasm.
The celebration witnessed the presence of senior officials, officers, serving jawans, and retired members of the force. To commemorate the occasion, a series of cultural programs were organized, reflecting the spirit and unity of the BSF.
Since its inception in 1965, the BSF has played a pivotal role in safeguarding India’s borders, ensuring internal security, and curbing trans-border crimes. The Panisagar Sector, which covers North Tripura, Unakoti, and Dhalai districts, has consistently fulfilled its responsibilities despite challenging terrain and adverse conditions.
In 2025, the sector intensified surveillance using drones, CCTV, and other modern technologies. As a result, 246 illegal infiltrators were arrested and contraband worth over Rs 8 crore including foreign cigarettes, yaba tablets, and cattle were seized.
Beyond its security duties, the BSF has actively engaged in welfare initiatives for border residents. Throughout the year, the force organized medical camps, sports competitions, skill development training, tree plantation drives, Unity Runs, International Yoga Day observances, and blood donation camps.
