Agartala, 3rd March 2026:   A bus was allegedly attacked by miscreants in the Lambuchoumuhani area of Kamalpur, triggering a suspension of both small and large vehicle services from Radhanagar Bus Stand. The disruption has caused severe inconvenience to passengers, particularly as many people are preparing to travel ahead of the Holi festival.

According to reports, the incident occurred yesterday when a bus bearing registration number TR-06-2154 was traveling from Khowai to Kamalpur. Near Manik Bhandar, around 25 individuals reportedly stopped the bus. The attackers, who had covered their faces with black cloth, allegedly assaulted the driver and the helper.

It is further alleged that when the bus owner arrived at the scene after being informed, he was also physically attacked. The attackers reportedly looted a gold earring from the owner and cash that was in his pocket.

Sources said that several individuals present at the scene have been identified. Allegations have surfaced that the attack was led by a person named Raju Deb.

Following the incident, bus owners expressed strong resentment and decided to suspend services until the safety of drivers and staff can be ensured. The Bus Owners’ Association stated that operations will remain halted until adequate security measures are put in place.

Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
