Agartala, 24th January 2026: In a solemn ceremony marked by deep emotion and reverence, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) unveiled a bust of martyr Shambhu Roy, a valiant CoBRA commando who laid down his life in service to the nation. The event took place on Saturday morning at Chandrapur, near Aponjan Club, in Dharmanagar.
Organized by the 140th Battalion of the CRPF, the ceremony began at 11:30 a.m. and was attended by senior officials including North Tripura District Magistrate Chandni Chandan, Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai, CRPF DIG Jyotindra Kumar Rajput, and Battalion Commandant Munna Singh. Officers and jawans from various ranks of the CRPF also joined the gathering to honor their fallen comrade.
Born on June 18, 1990, Shambhu Roy joined the CRPF at the age of 25 and became part of the elite 210 CoBRA Battalion. He played a crucial role in anti-Maoist operations in challenging terrains such as Chhattisgarh. On April 3, 2021, during a fierce encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh, Roy fought bravely and sacrificed his life for the country.
During the ceremony, dignitaries and attendees offered floral tributes at the bust, remembering Roy’s courage and patriotism. Speakers highlighted his supreme sacrifice as a testament to the indomitable spirit of India’s soldiers, emphasizing that his valor and devotion to duty will inspire future generations to serve the nation.
The newly unveiled bust is expected to stand as a lasting symbol of heroism for the local community. The ceremony concluded with the resounding slogan, “Veer Shaheed Shambhu Roy Amar Rahe” (Martyr Shambhu Roy lives forever), echoing the collective sentiment of respect and remembrance.
