Cabinet increases monthly allowance of Rs 500 for cook-cum-helpers under PM-Poshan

Agartala, November 25, 2022: The monthly honorarium of cook cum helpers working in the state under PM Poshan scheme has been increased by Rs 500. In a press conference at Civil Secretariat on Friday evening, Education Minister Ratanlal Nath announced the increase in this honorarium.

He said that 11 thousand 107 cook-cum-helpers are working in various government schools, aided schools, madrasas of the state. Until now, the monthly honorarium of each cook-cum-helper was Rs 1500. Out of this, the central government was giving Rs 900 and the state government was paying Rs 600.

Currently, as a result of Rs 500, the state government will give a monthly honorarium of Rs 1100 and the central government will give a total of Rs 2000, he added.

Education minister Nath said that this increased honorarium will be effective from January 1, 2023. As a result, the government will spend an additional Rs 5 crore 55 lakh annually. At present, 3 lakh 99 thousand 86 students are covered under mid-day meal in the state.

Replying to a query, Nath said that the mid-day meal project is going well. However, in Dhalai district, the breakfast project has been launched as a pilot project. If it proves successful, it can be rolled out across the state. He said that this government is reaching the people through work.
