Agartala, 4th April 2024: In anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, slated to be held in two phases, along with crucial by-elections for 7-Ramnagar assembly constituencies, the state has witnessed a significant deployment of CAPF personnel.
With the first phase of voting scheduled for April 19 and the subsequent phase on April 26, authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the safety and security of citizens exercising their democratic rights.
Central paramilitary forces, including the Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), have been deployed across strategic locations in the state. A considerable number of security personnel have arrived, with many more expected to join in the coming days.
The heightened security measures come in light of the imperative to prevent any untoward incidents during the electoral process. Companies of forces, transported via a special train, have already begun assuming their designated roles, in collaboration with the state police. Their duties encompass a wide range of responsibilities, from conducting searches in various areas to maintaining strict vigilance, particularly at polling stations on election days.
While some personnel are slated to remain in the state until April 26, it is reported that a portion will be redeployed to other regions post that date. However, the majority of security forces are anticipated to stay back until the election results are announced, underscoring the Election Commission’s commitment to ensuring peaceful and orderly elections with robust security measures in place.
