Agartala, October 11, 2023: A monkey was killed by a car on Wednesday morning near the Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary. The incident took place on the national highway 100 meters away from the first gate of the sanctuary. The forest department officials reached the spot and took the dead monkey to the Sepahijala Sanctuary’s Hospital for post-mortem.

This is not the first time that a monkey has died after being hit by a car in the area. The Forest department official said that monkeys often die due to road accidents, but no one cares. He blamed the indiscriminate deforestation for the loss of habitat and food sources for the wild animals.

The official said that wild animals are forced to leave the forest and enter the locality in search of life, but they face many dangers and threats from humans and vehicles. He urged the people to respect and protect the wildlife, as they are part of nature and essential for maintaining the ecological balance.

He also warned that the environment is being polluted and degraded due to human activities such as deforestation, industrialization, and urbanization. He said that this will have serious consequences for the future of the planet and humanity. He appealed to the people to be more aware and responsible towards the environment and wildlife.
