Car seized with stolen timber at Dharmanagar

Agartala, 3rd April 2025:   Dharmanagar Forest Department officials intercepted a vehicle carrying timber valued at several lakhs of rupees during a late-night operation took place yesterday. Acting on confidential information, a patrol team commenced monitoring the Bagbasa-Dharmanagar road.

During the operation, a Bolero vehicle bearing registration number TR02D-1880 was flagged as suspicious. While being pursued, the vehicle’s tyre burst in the Kameshwar area causing it to lose control and crash on the roadside. The driver managed to escape the scene.

Ranger Biswajit Das, leading the recovery efforts oversaw the vehicle’s retrieval and its subsequent transfer to the Forest Department for further investigation. Authorities are now looking into the incident, aiming to identify those involved in the illegal timber trade.
