Agartala, 26th July 2025: In a bid to promote preventive healthcare and tackle rising obesity rates, the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), under the Ministry of AYUSH launched a cutting-edge health kiosk machine in the Northeastern region on Saturday. The initiative falls under a nationwide health awareness campaign led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The newly developed kiosk integrates Ayurvedic principles with modern diagnostic capabilities, assessing individual well-being through two core metrics: Swastha Assessment Skill, which evaluates overall physical, mental, and social health, and Agni Assessment Skill, which gauges the strength and function of Agni — the digestive fire in Ayurveda. It also calculates Body Mass Index (BMI) using age, height, and weight, while measuring water and mineral content to support early detection and health management.
Officials confirmed that the health kiosk will first be deployed in the Northeastern states, with plans for a phased rollout across India. The technological convergence aims to foster public awareness and encourage timely health interventions by aligning traditional wellness models with digital diagnostics.
CCRAS Director General, Prof. Vd. Rabinarayan Acharya, visited the Regional Ayurveda Research Centre (RARC) in Agartala on Saturday to inspect ongoing research activities, community outreach initiatives, and public health services. His visit highlighted the centre’s expanding role in promoting evidence-based Ayurvedic healthcare.
RARC Agartala was designated as a Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centre in April 2022. The centre monitors misleading advertisements and adverse reactions associated with Ayurvedic products, reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to safety and transparency in traditional medicine.
