CEO chairs all-party meet on election code of conduct before 72 hours of poll day

Agartala: Feb 10. An all-party meeting was held on Friday to discuss the election code of conduct for political parties to follow 72 hours before the assembly elections in the state and the Election Commission of India’s guidelines on Election Day.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte in the conference hall of the District Magistrate’s office of West Tripura district here.

Appointment of polling agents, polling exercises before actual polling on election day and code of conduct for political parties, construction of booth offices and related guidelines, voter helpline, webcasting, voter assistance booths, micro observers, additional polling staff, voter information slips were discussed in the meeting. The Chief Electoral Officer also said that bike rally cannot be done 72 hours before the election and on the day of the election.

He also said that there are a total of 3,337 polling stations in the state. Out of which there will be 97 all women manned polling stations, 88 model polling stations, 33 polling stations manned by youth polling workers and 44 polling stations manned by persons with disabilities (PwDs).
