CEO Gitte inspects counting halls, says counting will be done amid three tier security

Agartala: February 28. Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura Kiran Gitte on Tuesday has inspected the counting hall of Umakanta Higher Secondary School in Agartala where around 14 counting halls have been set up.

After inspecting the arrangement, CEO Gitte said that on February 16 election was held and counting will be held on March 02 at 8 AM. The returning officers are preparing for counting. In 21 locations the counting will be held for 60 assembly constituencies.

“In all sub-division counting will be held except Jirania and Mohanpur which will be held in Umakanta Higher Secondary school in Agartala. We have arranged three-tier securities for the counting centers and 14 counting halls set up inside Umakanta School. In two buildings counting will be done. We have also set up one Media center in which we have arranged Wifi, telephone, and refreshment. We have also opened a waiting room for observers and candidates. Even we have also provided access to the CCTV of Strong room to all political representatives”, said Gitte.

He informed that some counting observers have arrived and by today all will be arriving here and under their supervision, the counting will be held and micro observers will be also there.

“Counting of five VVPATs will be held in all the assembly constituencies randomly.  The way election on February 16 held peacefully in the same way counting will also be held peacefully. I want to assure the people that all the strong rooms are safe and deployed three-tier security.  We have randomized the counting officers. Around 300 updates will be shared.  Around 65, 593 thousand of postal ballots we have till now. And counting will be started from 8 AM and EVM counting will be started from 8.30 AM”, said the CEO.
