Chabimura Set for Major Tourism Development Push: Tourism Minister

Agartala, 22nd May 2026:   Tripura’s Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday described Chabimura, one of the state’s most scenic and popular tourist destinations, as a source of pride for Tripura and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to placing it on the global tourism map.

Speaking after chairing a high-level meeting at the Secretariat, the Minister said discussions were held to accelerate ongoing beautification work at Chabimura and to ensure its smooth and sustainable management through collective efforts.

The meeting was attended by MLA of Amarpur constituency Ranjit Das, Executive Member of TTAADC Chandra Kumar Jamatia, Tourism Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, Director Prashanta Badal Nagi, along with the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Amarpur and representatives of the Chabimura and Devbari management committees.

Chowdhury emphasized that the state tourism department, local representatives, TTAADC administration, and community bodies must work together to develop a tourist-friendly environment and strengthen infrastructure at the site. He also highlighted the importance of increasing local employment opportunities and income generation through tourism development.

According to the Minister, the meeting focused on finalizing a long-term development roadmap aimed at preserving the cultural and natural heritage of Chabimura while promoting it globally as a major tourist attraction.
