Chief Minister Healthy Childhood- Healthy Adolescence Campaign-5.0 begins from September 19

Agartala, September 15: The Government of Tripura has announced the launch of the “Chief Minister Healthy Childhood- Healthy Adolescence Campaign-5.0” to improve the health and nutrition of children and adolescents in the state. The campaign will run from September 19 to October 3 and will cover more than 11 lakh children and adolescents aged zero to 19 years.

The campaign will provide various interventions such as deworming, vitamin-A, ORS and zinc, iron and folic acid supplementation, tetanus-diphtheria vaccination, measles-rubella vaccination, prevention of adolescent pregnancy, home newborn care, and social awareness on pneumonia control. The campaign aims to prevent and treat common health problems such as intestinal worm infections, vitamin-A deficiency, childhood diarrhoea, iron and folic acid deficiency, and anaemia that affect the growth and development of children and adolescents.

The state-wide inauguration of the campaign will be done by Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha at the Sachin Debbarman Auditorium, Belonia on September 19, 2023. The Mission Director of the National Health Mission DK Chakma held a press conference on September 15 at the conference hall of the office of the Director of the National Health Mission to brief the media about the campaign. State Program Officer of Reproductive Child Health Dr. Sanjay Rudra Pal, State Immunization Officer Dr. Mousumi Sarkar etc. were present among others.

The campaign is based on the experience of previous rounds of the Chief Minister Healthy Childhood- Healthy Adolescence Campaign that started in September 2021 as a special program for the proper implementation of public health programs for children and adolescents. The campaign will be organized in various institutions such as schools, Anganwadi centers, degree colleges, ITIs, technical education centers, and other educational centers from September 19, 2023 to September 28, 2023. The staff of these institutions will distribute medicines and supplements to children and adolescents. In addition, camps will be organized in various tea gardens, brick kilns, slum areas, orphanages, and various private educational institutions of the state. From September 29, 2023 to October 3, 2023, special awareness village meetings on prevention of teen marriage and teen pregnancy, emphasis on exclusive breastfeeding of the child after birth etc. will be organized.

The campaign is expected to improve the health protection, nutrition, overall development and quality of life of children and adolescents in Tripura.

The Chief Minister’s Healthy Childhood Healthy Adolescence Campaign – 5.0, which aims to improve the health and nutrition of children and adolescents in Tripura, will be implemented with the collaboration of various departments and partners. The Department of Health and Family Welfare, the Department of School Education, the Department of Higher Secondary Education, the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education, and various development partners will work together to ensure the success of the campaign.
