Child Killed, Four Seriously Injured in Head-On Collision in Dharmanagar

Agartala, 5th April 2025:  A tragic road accident in the Kalikapur area of Dharmanagar subdivision claimed the life of a young girl and left four others seriously injured on Friday afternoon.

According to reports, a head-on collision occurred between a passenger three-wheeler (tom-tom) and a tripper vehicle. The impact of the collision was so severe that the child died on the spot. She has been identified as a resident of Assam.

The injured—Bhagyalakshmi Barman (50), Nayan Barman (9), Meera Barman (55), and the tom-tom driver Hemant Debnath—also hail from Assam. They were travelling together in the tom-tom at the time of the accident.

Eyewitnesses from the locality immediately informed the fire brigade. Fire service personnel rushed to the spot, rescued the injured, and shifted them to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

Authorities are yet to confirm the cause of the collision. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
