Agartala, 4th December 2024: A Heart Disease Scanning Camp for children aged 0 to 18 years was organized at Dhalai District Hospital in Kulai on Wednesday, initiated by the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) and National Health Mission (NHM) Tripura. The camp, managed by Apollo Children’s Hospital Chennai, saw participation from patients across Dhalai, Khowai, Unakoti and North Tripura districts.
Two cardiologists from Apollo Children’s Hospital Chennai, Dr. Ram and Dr. Arun conducted the heart scans for the attending children. The doctors checked for heart leaks and other conditions. A total of 55 children were examined, out of which 19 were diagnosed with heart problems. These children will receive treatment at Apollo Children’s Hospital in Chennai, with the state government covering the entire cost, said Dr. Bidhan Bhowmik, Medical Superintendent of Dhalai District Hospital.
Dr. Bhowmik emphasized the importance of such camps, stating, “These camps are of great benefit. Children with heart problems will receive free treatment and greatly benefit from these initiatives.” He added that the treatment costs per child would be around five lakh rupees, covered by the state government.
The camp highlighted the state’s commitment to child healthcare, ensuring that those diagnosed with heart defects receive the necessary medical attention without financial burden. The program’s success highlights the need for continued efforts to support healthcare initiatives in the region.
