Agartala, January 21, 2023: The Churaibari police in Assam caught a six-wheeler container vehicle loaded with Phensedyl before entering the territory of Tripura ahead of the polls.
The drug mafias have been quiet for the past few days, but has risen again. A six-wheeler container vehicle bound for Agartala from Guwahati was caught by the Assam’s Churaibari watch post police just before it entered Tripura with Phensedyl around 4 PM on Saturday.
It is learned that the driver brought these intoxicating cough syrups along with various goods through Om Logistics Transport from Lakra in Guwahati. First, when the vehicle arrived at the Assam’s Churaibari Check Point, the in-charge Niranjan Das seized the vehicle and searched it suspiciously. A total of twenty sacks contained 1990 bottles with papad. The in-charge said that the black market value of which is around Rs 10 lakh.
Meanwhile, the vehicle driver Anwar Hossain (34) and co-driver Gulzar Hossain (21) have been arrested. The house of the arrested two is in Kolgachia village of Barpeta district of Assam. The police have registered a case against them under the NDPS Act and started investigation.
