CITU gives deputation to Labour Commissioner on 13 demands

Agartala, August 06, 2022: On behalf of All India Construction Workers Federation, CITU state committee leaders and members led by its president Manik Dey and general secretary Sankar Prasad Datta on Saturday gave deputation at the office of Labour commissioner on 13-point charter of demands for the welfare of construction workers in Tripura.

The demands are – The rights of laborers including in the construction sector should not be taken away; all the workers in the actual construction area should be included under the project; the wages of the workers should be at least Rs 21 thousand; all the facilities including medical treatment should be provided to the workers working in the construction sector in case of accidents; government job opportunities should be increased in construction sector; migrant workers should be protected and paid fair wages; social protection of women workers should be ensured at workplace; the wages of brick kiln workers should be increased this year; construction workers above 55 years of age should be paid social allowance; air-conditioned rooms, clean drinking water, science-compliant toilets, modern fuel should be provided for workers in brick kilns; the amount of money allocated to the residence should be increased; and the stipend should be increased and given within a certain period to the students of working families involved in construction.
