Agartala: November 01. Former MP and CITU general secretary Sankar Prasad Datta today lashed out at the BJP government claiming that the government has no intention of encouraging the blood donation of the  youth, rather it is obstructing and attacking the blood donation camps organized by youth wings of left front.

Datta said this while inaugurating a blood donation camp which was organized in view of the 43rd Foundation Day of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI).He visited the blood donation camp and encouraged the blood donors saying such initiative of DYFI is highly commendable.“Blood donation camps are a very important aspect of human service. 40 to 45 years ago there was no blood collection system in Tripura. Blood was collected from outside the state and brought to Tripura. The patient’s life was saved with that blood. But after the establishment of the Left Front government in 1978, a kind of calendar schedule was created by organizing blood collection. And on this agenda everyone started coming forward to donate blood. Through this blood donation, it would have been possible to completely meet the demand of blood shortage”, the said.

He further said, “But now it seems that the BJP government has no intention of encouraging the blood donation of the students, youth, rather it is obstructing and attacking the blood donation camps of the left student youth organizations. It is a very deplorable incident.” The organized blood donation camp was attended by CPIM West District Committee Secretary Ratan Das, DYFI State Secretary Nabarun Deb and others.
