Agartala, 8th March 2026:   Tension gripped the Barjala area of Bishramganj following a violent clash between two families during the annual Shani Puja, a local religious festival.

What began as a minor argument quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, leaving several people injured and the community in shock.  According to local sources, the dispute started with a few exchanged words between family members during the otherwise peaceful religious event.

However, within a short time, the disagreement intensified and turned into a hand-to-hand fight. Reports indicate that at one point, a sickle was allegedly used in the attack, and a woman’s necklace was reportedly snatched during the chaos.

Several members from both families sustained minor injuries. Both sides subsequently filed complaints against each other at Bishramganj Police Station, leading to a legal standoff of cases and counter-cases.

Police have assured residents of a fair and impartial investigation and have begun looking into the incident with seriousness.  Residents expressed concern over the incident, noting that religious festivals are meant to promote harmony and peace. Many believe this episode highlights how minor disagreements can quickly escalate into violence, serving as a sobering reminder of the dangers of community tensions.
