BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 14th November 2023:   : In a disturbing incident in the No. 1 Chandanagar area of Bishalgarh, clashes erupted between two groups over the separate worship of Goddess Durga, leaving six individuals injured and one person in police custody.

The dispute arose when women in the locality opted to perform Durga Puja separately, a decision that did not sit well with certain individuals. Trouble escalated, reportedly stemming from grievances against a female entrepreneur associated with the separate puja arrangement.

The situation took a violent turn, leading to a physical altercation that required police intervention. Four people sustained injuries during the mayhem, with one individual subsequently being transferred to TMC Hospital for medical treatment.

As per initial reports, one accused, has been arrested in connection with the incident. The accused, however, claims innocence and accuses the police of bias, alleging that the altercation was a result of a personal attack.

Contrary to the apparent religious tensions, insider sources said that the incident might be rooted in family problems. Sushant Deb, one of the victims, employed in an organization, was allegedly coerced into consuming alcohol by the accused on Monday. Subsequent disputes unfolded at his residence, culminating in an attack on him and three others when he returned home intoxicated.

In the face of escalating violence, the police promptly responded to the distress call. The injured individuals were rescued and promptly referred to the hospital for medical attention. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, as authorities work to ascertain the precise motives behind the clash and ensure justice is served.
