Agartala, 23rd June 2025: A violent clash over an alleged land dispute in the Jharjhariya area under Chelagang police station left one person seriously injured and another with minor injuries yesterday.
Local sources informed that the altercation began when Kala Mia, a resident of a neighbouring locality allegedly moved land to the premises of Azid Mia’s house using a tipper, without prior notice or consultation. Tensions escalated when Kala Mia reportedly attempted to reclaim land from Azid Mia’s property instead of his own, triggering an argument with Azid Mia’s son.
The verbal spat turned physical when Kala Mia allegedly struck Azid’s son with a stick. Upon witnessing the commotion, Azid Mia rushed to the scene, where he too was allegedly attacked by Kala Mia, leading to a broader clash between the two parties.
Both injured individuals were taken to Natunbazar Rural Hospital, where medical staff provided initial treatment. Given the severity of their injuries, they were later referred to Gomati District Hospital for further care.
Police have been informed and an investigation is underway to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident.
