Agartala, 18th November 2025 : Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today asserted that the BJP is steadily expanding its presence across the country and will eventually form the government in West Bengal to end what he termed “jungle raj.” He also criticized the previous UPA government for widespread corruption and instability.
Dr. Saha made the remarks while welcoming 135 voters from 42 families who joined the BJP at Takarjala.
He said those joining the party have made the “right decision at the right time,” adding that their support would further strengthen the BJP.
“BJP is forming governments in state after state. Earlier it was around 20; now the number is increasing. With the highest membership in the country, we feel proud to be part of the BJP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working for the welfare of the nation, the states and Janajati communities. The formation of the DoNER Ministry has accelerated development in the North East,” he said.
Dr. Saha, who is scheduled to attend the oath-taking ceremony in Bihar, said the situation in the state changed significantly after the NDA came to power. “Everyone knows about the goonda raj and corruption that existed earlier. People do not want chaos and disorder; they want peace and development,” he said.
He alleged that during the UPA regime, the country faced numerous scams and a lack of security. “Before 2014, soldiers often came under attack and the government did nothing. The North East also faced instability. After 2014, the scenario changed,” he added.
The Chief Minister claimed that some individuals in Tripura were being “misguided and provoked” and urged them to join the BJP. He reiterated that the party is committed to Janajati welfare.
Recalling the CPIM’s tenure in Tripura, Dr. Saha accused the former government of fostering “murder and terror.” He said the people have witnessed Congress and CPIM rule in various states and added that BJP is focused on establishing peace.
The programme was attended by BJP general secretary Bipin Debbarma, Sepahijala district North Zone president Biplab Chakraborty, Mandwi Mandal president Abhijit Debbarma, Golaghati Mandal president Narayan Debnath, Takarjala president Nirmal Debbarma and other party leaders.
