CM demands permanent deploy of NDRF battalion in state, attends meeting with HM Shah

Agartala: June 13. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday has demanded to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to permanently deploy a battalion of NDRF in the state to deal with the natural disaster.

“As Tripura is located in zone 5 of earthquake prone area, the state is prone to earthquakes and other calamities. The state government is taking various steps to deal with this calamity. After the terrible floods of 2018 and 2019, even though no major disaster occurred, the state has undertaken necessary training of government employees and officials on disaster mitigation”, said Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said this attending meeting of Ministers of Disaster Management chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister requested to permanently deploy a battalion of NDRF in the state to deal with the disaster.

In this meeting held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, the Chief Minister also said that more than 12 crore Common Protocol warnings have been issued to the people of the state in the last one year.

“Warnings are also being issued through social media. In this context, the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) needs to be utilized expeditiously”, said Dr Saha.

The Chief Minister requested the Central Government to provide necessary training to state government officials on disaster mitigation.

He said that four companies of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been formed in the state with a total of 552 people.
